Hints and Tips

...so you are considering moving to new offices or refurbishing your current premises: there is lots to think about! Here are just a few hints and tips to get you started:

  • Assign an internal manager to co-ordinate the relocation or refurbishment.
  • Appoint a commercial property agent to handle the search and acquisition.
  • Interview several design and build companies and identify those you feel comfortable working with. It is essential that you feel you can communicate well with the people who will be responsible for delivering the project.
  • When you have shortlisted, invite your selected contractors to view and give you broad budget figures for your requirements.
  • Decide on your new premises and meet with the design and build companies again to confirm brief and budget.
  • After you have been presented with proposals for the project you will probably have a good feel for who you plan to engage to carry out the work. Always ask for and take up references, making sure you have a clear idea on what you need to know i.e. quality of work, did they stick to the budget, was the project delivered on time and most importantly would they work with them again?
