In 1997 GE Capital Commercial Finance decided to form a new financial services company, initially specialising in invoice discounting but which rapidly moved into general asset-based lending operations.
A floor was taken in a prestige building in landscaped grounds in Tunbridge Wells.
The design brief to Gifford Grant was to maximise possible staffing levels, but at the same time provide a pleasant working environment. Finishes were to be smart without being opulent and the emphasis was to be on functionality.
The floor was fitted out with open plan desking, extensive T14 storage wall, (Gifford Grant's own product), a communications room with extensive UPS backup facilities, staff kitchen, conference rooms and directors offices. A second floor was taken early in 2000. This was also fitted out to the same high standard by Gifford Grant, with enhanced conference facilities and offices for GE Europe.
Most recently, much of the space has been re-fitted as a business continuity facility.
