E2V were utilising a 1960’s building on Waterhouse Lane, Chelmsford, Essex as a staff canteen with full catering kitchen. The building was in poor repair, and was not being used to its potential.

Gifford Grant’s brief was to design, specify, implement and project manage a complete building refurbishment including new curtain walling, bespoke entrance with atrium roof and revolving door, new seamless roof to the entire building, protection of attached listed barn and rebuilding of further barn into WC facilities, creation of visitors’ car park and landscaping, with recycled water system and interceptor beneath.

The internal fit-out included: partitioning, raised floor, air-conditioning, new lighting, power and data infrastructure, staff welfare facilities incorporating refreshment areas, WCs and showers, state of the art reception, boardroom and meeting facilities all meeting current DDA and building regulations and complying with planning conditions.

Gifford Grant Ltd successfully completed this prestigious project providing E2V Technologies Limited with a world class front of house facility for its staff, visitors and investors.
